LEXINGTON, Va. - The Bridgewater College women's track and field team opened their 2026 outdoor slate at the W&L Track & Field Carnival on Friday and Saturday.
Olivia Morra started the Friday slate of events on a positive note for the Eagles with a second-place finish in the women's 5k. Her 17:54.08 time became the second-best performance in program history.
Summer Wallace placed second in the women's high jump. Wallace cleared the 1.56-meter threshold on her first attempt, but failed to clear the deciding 1.61-meter bar within her allotted three tries. Wallace rebounded with a first-place finish in the women's long jump. The Staunton product jumped a best 5.43 meters. Her teammate Olivia Crigger placed second in the event with a 5.05-meter jump.
Maddie Watson joined Wallace in the women's high jump with a fifth-place finish. Watson cleared the 1.56-meter threshold on her second try. Watson competed in the women's 100-meter hurdles on Saturday and placed fifth, clocking 15.50.
Jade Buckles opened Saturday for the Eagles by claiming silver in the women's 100-meter dash. Buckles's 12.45-second dash was the fourth-best mark in program history. Buckles bested the field in the 200-meter dash with a 24.69-second sprint. Wallace joined her on the podium in second with a 25.14-second sprint. The times moved them to third and sixth on the all-time program performance list, respectively.
Watson and Crigger went 1-2 in the women's triple jump. Crigger edged out Watson with a 11.37-meter jump. Watson jumped for 11.30 meters. Watson's best jump moved her to seventh on the all-time program performance list.
After a successful outing to open their outdoor campaign, Bridgewater is looking forward to hosting the Doc Jopson Track and Field Invitational. The two-day event begins. on Friday, Mar. 27 at 10 a.m. The event will be streamed live on FloCollege.
