BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Bridgewater men's track and field team competed at the Doc Jopson Track & Field Invitational Saturday.
Lauchnor Lamb and Ian Browne opened the meet for the Eagles with the men's long jump. The tandem placed seventh and 11th, respectively. Lamb's best jump cleared 6.23 meters, while Browne's best jump cleared 5.93 meters.
Simultaneously, a handful of Eagles were competing in the men's hammer throw finals. The flock of Eagles was led by Jesus Flores, who finished third behind two unattached competitiors with a best throw of 52.37 meters. Joe Flynn placed fourth with a best throw of 46.91 meters. Antonio Harris and Ryan Duncan also made the finals.
Bridgewater's 4x100-meter relay bested the field with a time of 42.37. The relay consisted Walker Knicely as the leadoff, Kyle Galloway as the second leg, Gian Sirico as the third leg, and Jayden Davenport as the anchor.
Davenport also competed in the 200-meter dash and 100-meter dash finals. The freshman placed fourth in the 200 with a time of 22.27. Davenport competed alongside Galloway in the 100 and bested the field with a time of 10.78. Galloway placed seventh in the event.
BC had four entries in the men's 1500-meter run. Malakai Wettig and Kaedon Howley placed second and third, respectively. Wettig crossed the line at the 4:10.30 mark, and Howley finished seconds later. Gavin Diehl placed sixth with a time of 4:15.21. Chris Layne ran in the second heat and recorded a time of 4:59.03.
Jayden Brown and Joe Amlacher recorded the two fastest times in the men's 100-meter hurdles prelims. With inside lane advantages, Brown and Amlacher finished 1-2 in the finals. Brown crossed the line in 15.03 seconds. Amlacher edged an Ithaca hurdler for second with a time of 15.31.
Amlacher also competed in the men's high jump alongside teammate Trey Birchett. Amlacher placed sixth, while Birchett won the event after being the only entry to clear 1.97 meters.
Bridgewater had three throwers land in the finals in the men's shot put. Jesus Flores placed first in the event with a top throw of 15.79-meters. Luke Williams joined Flores on the podium with a third-place finish. McKinley Goodbar also qualified for the finals and placed sixth, recording his best throw of 13.06 meters on his final attempt.
Knicely placed second in the men's pole vault after clearing the 4.51-meter threshold. Knicely had the opportunity to win the event, but was unable to clear the next mark.
Ben Baker placed fifth in the 400-meter hurdles. Baker ran in the second heat and placed second in his heat. Baker crossed the line at the 1:01.17 mark.
The Eagles are scheduled to compete at the Colonial Relay starting on Thursday, Apr. 2 at 11 a.m. The meet is being hosted by William & Mary in Williamsburg, Va.
