WINCHESTER, Va. - Four members of the Bridgewater College women's track and field team competed at the NCAA South Region Final Qualifier Saturday afternoon. Summer Wallace, Jade Buckles, Brianna Morgan, and Abby Mikolay all represented the Eagles in the final chance meet.
Buckles competed in the women's 60-meter dash in to start things of for the Eagles. Buckles clocked 7.74 and finished second in the event. Entering the meet, Buckles's best mark of the season, a 7.66 in the prelims of the ODAC championship last week, sat just outside the top-20 performances in the nation. Buckles also competed in the women's 200-meter dash, crossing the line in 25.75 seconds.
Wallace competed in the 60-meter dash and long jump. The Staunton, Va native clocked 8.18 in the 60-meter dash and recorded a best jump of 5.44 meters in the long jump.
In the women's weight throw, Morgan placed third with a best throw of 15.51 meters.
Mikolay competed in the women's shot put and placed first with a best throw of 13.08 meters. The Waynesboro, Va product threw a conference and championship meet record of 13.65 at the ODAC championships last weekend. The throw placed her 19th in division III.
The national championship meet begins on Friday, Mar. 13. It will be held at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Ala. The official list of invites will be announced tomorrow evening.
