RUSSELLVILLE, Ky. - Bridgewater College women's golf finished the first round of golf with their best score of the spring so far at the Music City Shootout hosted by Rose-Hulman placing third among five teams at Rolling Hills Golf Club.
Leading the way for the Eagles through the first 18 holes was
Emily Price with a 9th-place finish. Price shot +10 on the day through tough weather conditions and managed to limit high numbers.
Hannah Rizzo followed with an 11th-place finish for a score of 86 (+14).
Addy Sweet stands in 15th place. Sweet saw double bogeys in three-straight holes but flattened out the higher score with even par on consecutive holes to start and finish.
The final finishers through the first round for Bridgewater were
Iyana Smith who took 22nd and
Sarah Maggi who placed 25th in a field of 31 golfers.
"The women battled really well today," said golf head coach Nick Schlickenrieder. "We did a great job hitting fairways and greens, and keeping things nice and simple; the way we want to play. We're in a great spot and excited for the opportunity to go chase a great result."
Bridgewater returns tomorrow, March 8 with a tee-off beginning at 8:40 a.m.
