Tysons, Va. - The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) announced during the first game of the ODAC final series, the All-ODAC selection teams and major awards as seven Bridgewater College baseball athletes landed All-ODAC honors.
Ashton Smith and Zack Chadwell garnered All-ODAC First Team honors following impressive numbers all season. Smith posted a season-high 12 home runs with a 1.022 OPS and 42 RBIs. Chadwell received his second-straight All-ODAC First Team honor while recording a team-high 13 home runs and a single-season program record of 67 RBIs. The designated hitter has maintained a .325 batting average and a 1.101 OPS.
Earning All-ODAC Second Team laurels were four more deserving athletes. Evan Bert bumped up to second team following a third team recognition last season. Bert led the conference in strikeouts, sending 67 batters back to the dugout. The senior has tossed a complete game against Randolph-Macon and recorded a single-game career-high of 12 strikeouts against Guilford. Bert posted a 3.97 ERA throughout the season with a 7-3 record.
Junior Chandler Valbak received All-ODAC Second Team honors, posting a .378 batting average along with season-highs of 43 runs, 59 hits, and 55 RBIs. This is his first All-ODAC honor in his career. Senior Bryce Suters has posted strong performances while leading the team in multiple offensive categories for All-ODAC Second Team recognition. The left fielder led the Eagles with a .395 batting average including team-highs of 64 hits and a 1.144 OPS.
Landing All-ODAC Third Team selections were freshman Jakson Walter and senior Nick Stavros. Walter recorded impressive rookie numbers and became an everyday starter in center field. Walter holds a .322 batting average with a team-high 51 runs along with 49 hits and 35 RBIs. The reigning ODAC Player of the Year cemented a third team spot after posting a .355 batting average including 50 runs, 59 hits, 39 RBIs, and a .493 on-base percentage.
The seven All-ODAC honorees mark the most All-ODAC selections under Ben Spott's tenure since 2020.
