Box Score 2 WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - Bridgewater College dropped to 0-4 on its Florida trip as the Eagles lost a doubleheader Wednesday to Thomas More, 7-6 and 4-3.
Both games were scheduled for seven innings, but both went to extra innings.
In the opener, the Eagles led 6-4 going into the seventh but were unable to close out the Saints as they scored a pair of runs to tie the score.
Brett Howell belted a solo homer for the Eagles and Alex Nuttycombe was 2-for-4 with a run batted in. Bryan Sanderson was 1-for-3 with two RBIs.
In the second game, the Eagles also held the lead late, 3-2, but the Saints scratched out a run in the sixth to tie the score and then won the game in the ninth.
Ryan Smith was 2-for-2 with two RBIs to lead the offense. Robert Gallet started on the mound and pitched five solid innings, allowing three runs on seven hits while striking out two hitters.
Bridgewater, now 7-9 on the season, plays Mount Union on Thursday afternoon in its final game in Florida.
