Davis Selected For Induction Into NJCAA Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame

Former Bridgewater College baseball standout Barry Davis has been selected for induction into the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

Davis played four seasons at Bridgewater College, finishing his playing career under current Eagles head coach Curt Kendall. As a junior, Davis was named the Eagles' Most Valuable Player and earned first-team All-ODAC recognition. As a sophomore, Davis was a second-team All-ODAC pick and as a senior he earned the team's 100 Percent Award. He played on two ODAC Championship squads and graduated as the program's all-time leader in hits. In 2014, Davis was inducted into the Bridgewater College Athletic Hall of Fame.

Davis worked as an assisstant coach at Frostburg State and George Mason before landing his first head coaching job in 1990 in the junior college ranks at Rowan Gloucester, then known as Gloucester County. Davis quickly turned the program into a national power.

The NJCAA established the DIII level of baseball in 1992 and Davis led the Roadrunners to the inaugural NJCAA DIII Baseball World Series Championship - the first of back-to-back national titles.

In his 11 seasons at Rowan Gloucester, the Bridgewater grad posted a 434-109 record and led the program to four national championships.

Also, while coaching at Gloucester Rowan, Davis led the NJCAA national team as an assistant in 1997 and head coach in 1999 when the squad defeated Team Canada.

Following his fourth national championship campaign at Rowan Gloucester, Davis moved on to coach then NAIA program Georgia Southwestern State where he compiled a 137-87 record in four seasons.

In 2005, Davis took over the program at Division I Rider University where he is still the head coach. Rider won Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) tournament crowns in 2008 and 2010 for berths in the NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament.
