BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Bridgewater College women's track & field team took part in day one of the Doc Jopson Invitational on Friday.
The Eagles started off the day in the field with Kylah Gray finishing fourth in the discus throw with a toss of 34.82 meters (114' 2.75'') which is a new personal best and moves her up to the sixth spot in program history. Abby Mikolay secured fifth in the event registering a throw of 34.68 meters (113' 9.25'').
Olivia Bates secured points for BC competing in the triple jump with a leap of 10.56 meters (34' 7.5'').
Emily Smeds won the 3.000-meter steeplechase crossing the line at the 11:24.29 mark, while teammate Mackenzie Young finished second in the event clocking an 11.35.97 finish.
Sarah Earle was the sole competitor in the 10,000-meter run etching a time of 42:14.36.
Bridgewater concludes the day atop the leaderboard with 40 points, Ithaca sits in second place with 31 points while ODAC affiliate Washington and Lee rounds out the top three with 29 points.
The Eagles are right back at it tomorrow for day two of the Doc Jopson Invitational with field events beginning at 11 a.m.
