BRIDGEWATER, Va. - Bridgewater women's track & field has been competing for a spot in qualification with performances at the Lynchburg Twilight Qualifier and the Liberty Qualifier. The Eagles are now preparing for the Mount Olive Qualifier Thursday, May 8 to continue their stride in competing on the national stage in Geneva, Ohio on May 22-24.
Last time out, the women took on the Lynchburg Hill City Twilight Qualifier on Friday, May 2. Abby Mikolay placed third in the shot put with a mark of 12.11m. Mikolay later threw a second-place result of 43.68m in discus. Currently, Mikolay sits at 18th in the nation in the Division III qualifying list. At ODACs, Mikolay posted a personal best in discus with a strong throw of 44.89m. That mark is second best all-time at Bridgewater.
Brianna Morgan also highlighted the day at Lynchburg with a personal best in the hammer throw throwing 43.49m. That mark is third best all-time in program history.
On Tuesday, the Eagles competed at the Liberty Qualifier in search of pushing marks towards qualification at nationals. Summer Wallace took a second-place result among Division I competitors in the 400 meters with a time of 59.10. Wallace also leaped a mark of 5.08m in the long jump. Olivia Crigger landed a fourth-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 11.12m.
The Eagles now head to the Mount Olive Qualifier on Thursday, May 8 to continue fighting for a spot in qualification at the NCAA track & field championships.
