SALEM, Va. - The Bridgewater College women's track and field team competed in the final day of the ODAC championship meet on Sunday. The Eagles finished in third, trailing Lynchburg and Washington and Lee.
Junior Abby Mikolay started the afternoon by breaking the meet and ODAC record in the women's shot put with an opening throw of 13.63 meters. This was the longest-standing record in the conference record books, standing since 1995.
Olivia Crigger placed second in the women's triple jump, recording an 11.27-meter jump on her fifth attempt. Crigger also placed fifth in the women's 60-meter hurdles, clocking 9.34.
Senior sprinter Jade Buckles successfully defended her title in the women's 60-meter dash. After clocking 7.66 in the prelims, Buckles laid down a 7.71-second dash to win her second ODAC championship in the event.
Buckles claimed silver in the women's 200-meter dash after a 25.51 dash. Summer Wallace was edged out by Lynchburg's Rylee Turner by one millisecond for the final podium spot.
Bridgewater finished the meet in third with a total of 92 points. Washington and Lee claimed the women's title with 195.5 points. Lynchburg placed second with 113 points.
Bridgewater competes at the South Regional Qualifier beginning on Friday, Mar. 6.
