FOREST, Va. - The Old Dominion Athletic Conference named Bridgewater College women's lacrosse midfielder Paige Mayers this week's ODAC defensive player of the week following her performances over the past week.
On Tuesday, Mar. 3, Mayers and the Eagles faced off against Meredith in Raleigh, N.C. Despite dropping the game by a score of 11-9, Mayers caused 10 turnovers and scooped up 10 ground balls. Her ten turnovers did not only set a new single-game program record; it also tied for the most in a single game across all three NCAA divisions this season. On the other side of the field, Mayers scored five goals and won 11 draw controls.
Two days later, Mayers and the Eagles bounced back with a commanding 15-3 road win over Methodist. Mayers caused two turnovers and collected three ground balls. Mayers added four goals and two assists for six points. Mayers also won two draw controls.
Mayers and the Eagles host Transylvania on Thursday, Mar. 12 at 3 p.m. The match will be streamed live on FloCollege.
